What is Psychological Intervention?

Psychological intervention is a supportive and collaborative process that helps you understand yourself, navigate challenges, and make meaningful changes in your life. Through evidence-based approaches tailored to your unique needs and strengths, therapy can support wellbeing, self-awareness, and growth. At Stonebrook Psychology, we offer this care to adults via telehealth, so you can access professional support from the comfort and privacy of your own space.

What modalities (therapy styles) do we use?

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Focuses on helping you live in line with your values, develop self-compassion, and make space for difficult thoughts and feelings rather than getting caught up in them.

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): Looks at the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, supporting you to build new patterns that improve mood and wellbeing.

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT): Teaches practical skills for managing emotions, improving relationships, and staying grounded during distress.

  • Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT): Supports you to understand, process, and make sense of your emotions in a safe and compassionate space.

  • Person-Centred Therapy: A collaborative approach built on empathy, respect, and genuine understanding, where you set the pace and direction of therapy.

  • Schema Therapy: Helps identify and heal long-standing patterns or narratives that developed from early experiences, creating space for new ways of thinking, feeling, and relating.

  • Somatic Therapy – Recognises the connection between mind and body, using gentle awareness of physical sensations and movement to release stored tension and support emotional healing.
