    • Psychologist: Trained in mental health assessment and therapy. Psychologist is a protected title and requires certain tertiary qualifications and training. Psychologists are bound by AHPRA guidelines and ethical standards.

    • Counsellor: Offers guidance and support for specific life challenges.

    • Therapist: A general term for someone providing talk therapy.

  • Therapy can help anyone wanting support, guidance, or new ways to cope. It’s most effective when you feel ready to explore your thoughts and feelings.

  • Telehealth allows you to access therapy from anywhere, removing travel and scheduling barriers. Research shows video sessions can be as effective as in-person therapy, offering flexible, convenient, and private support.

  • At this time Stonebrook does not offer assessments.

  • During tan intake appointment, you’ll share your history, reasons for seeking therapy, and your goals, while also seeing if your psychologist is a good fit. The psychologist will ensure your needs are within their scope of practice and, if not, help you find a suitable alternative.

  • The Consent Form outlines your rights and how we work together. It is an ethical requirement that we get your consent before commencing sessions. The Intake Form helps us understand your background, needs, and goals. Completing these forms ensures we can provide safe and personalised care.

  • Psychological intervention is a supportive and collaborative process that helps you understand yourself, navigate challenges, and make meaningful changes in your life. Through evidence-based approaches tailored to your unique needs and strengths, therapy can support wellbeing, self-awareness, and growth.
